We woke up and rode up an 11% grade 2 km hill.
I had arranged a Couch Surfing host for us in Vancouver. Her name was Joan.
We spaced out on the road during the ride to Vancouver and we regrouped at a gas station. The suburbs blended into the city and Eric took off and went to go meet some of his friends. Paul, Kosuke, Mike and I headed to our host’s house in Vancouver. The road that we took into the Port Moody district of Vancouver had four different names. The names changed as we rode on.
Just before we reached Joan’s house we hit a really steep and long hill. Everyone except me walked their bikes. I thought it was easier to just pedal than it was to walk the bike. I was dripping sweet by the time we reached the top of the hill.
We met Joan and her husband John. Joan had been a mountain biking coach and she was cool to us. John was an engineering professor and he liked to juggle.
Eric met up with us in the evening. We set out all of our gear to dry and we chatted with Joan and John nonstop.
Joan made a great dinner for us with wine and cheese hors devours, broccoli, chicken, rice, and two berry crumble pies. We also ate John’s delicious dried fruit muffins. Joan and John treated us like family.
After dinner Joan showed us videos of trials biking. The guys in the video were doing insane tricks on a mountain bike.
I fell asleep during the movie and we all slept on the floor.
