Day 37 - 142 km

I woke up at 6:30am and broke camp fast.  We made it through Banff without paying for camping which is good because they charge $30 for a campsite.
We rode to Lake Louise and walked next to the lake on a path.  I went into the Fairmont Hotel, a ritzy place.  We spent about an hour at Lake Louise and then it was back on the road.  We said goodbye to Frantz because he was heading east and we were going west.
I watched a plume of smoke come up from the forest from a controlled burn.  Then I saw two cyclists fixing a flat tire on the road and I stopped and let them use my tire levers.
We reached the logging town called Golden and we regrouped.  We stopped at a McDonald’s and rested and used the internet.
We decided to ride out of Golden and find a place to camp even though it was getting dark.  Eric rode in front because he had a good headlight and I rode in the back because I had a good taillight.  It took us a while to decide on a spot but eventually I found a driveway with a gate that had not been driven on in a while.  We pitched our tents behind the gate and went to bed.
