Day 82 - 55 miles

In the morning I rode out of Marina and into Monterey.  I saw some hobos in a park with a Bob trailer like mine.  They waved to me and asked me to come to them.  My instinct said not to but I went to them and stopped.  The two men came up to me and said they were going to rob me.  They looked me and my bike up and down to see if there was anything valuable.  They didn’t see anything they wanted and I told them I don’t have anything.  They started talking to each other and got distracted with crazy talk.  I rode away and they yelled after me but they didn’t chase me.
I was looking for a bike shop because I had 4 broken spokes on my rear wheel.  There were 2 bike shops next to each other in Carmel.  The guy at the first shop said he was too busy to fix my wheel.  The guys at the second shop said they didn’t have the parts so I went back to the first shop.  They guy there was able to make me some spokes with his spoke-making machine.  I took the spokes to the second shop and they fixed my wheel.  While they were working I took a fast road bike for a test drive.
I rode through Big Sur and I had great views of the coast and the sunset.  I found a place to camp on a blocked off road.  I found a flat gravel pad with a view of the ocean 300 feet below.  For dinner I made spaghetti Alfredo with broccoli for dinner.  It was delicious.

A nice bike lane in Marina.

Monterey Bay.
