Mike and I left Newport and headed to Florence. It was a little bit rainy and there was a headwind.
When I got to Florence I stopped at Fred Meyer and called my dad’s friend Tom. He came and picked me up in his truck. I had a snack at Fred Meyer. Tom and I went to look for Mike in the truck. We drove backwards up the road about 15 minutes and we decided we must have missed him. We turned around and headed back to Florence. On the way, Mike called me and said he was at a gas station in Florence so we went and picked him up.
Tom took us to his house on Wohink Lake, 5 miles south of Florence. He has a beautiful A-frame cottage on the lake. We met his wife Rosie who is very kind and sweet. Rosie had made chili for us and we all enjoyed dinner together.
Mike and I each had a bed upstairs in the A-frame.
