In the morning I talked to a motorcyclist on his way to Alaska. He said it had snowed 3 inches in Fort Nelson which was a week of riding ahead of us. This news gave us a sense of urgency to press on before winter weather comes.
We crossed the Yukon River and we are reaching the headwaters of the Yukon. The trees changed from spruce to pine.
I was passed by Paul and Kosuke while I took a break and talked to some tourists and read information signs. They didn’t realize I was behind them. I caught u to Paul but I couldn’t catch Kosuke.
Kosuke asked a person in a car if they had seen me ahead of him and he realized I was behind him. He turned around and rode back to us. Kosuke had been stressed because he didn’t understand why he wasn’t catching up to me.
We rode to the Teslin River crossing and I bought contact solution at a gas station.
We rode until 9pm and we made camp at an abandoned roadhouse. Paul cooked dinner on the hood of a rusty old pickup ruck and I built a fire. We set up tarps to cover our bikes an gear because it was raining. We had a nice dinner with Kosuke around the fire and told stories and jokes.
